What is crypto ROI?

Cryptocurrency return on investment (ROI) measures how much an investment has gained or lost relative to its original cost.

ROI is expressed as a percentage, making it easier to compare investments of different sizes.

How is cryptocurrency ROI calculated?

Cryptocurrency ROI is calculated by dividing your net profit or loss by your total investment cost and multiplying the result by 100.

ROI (%) = (Net Profit / Total Investment Cost) × 100

This calculator includes buying and selling fees when calculating your net investment return.

Crypto ROI example

Suppose you purchase $1,000 of cryptocurrency when its price is $50,000 per coin.

You later sell when the price reaches $75,000. Your cryptocurrency has a gross selling value of $1,500.

With a 0.5% buying fee and a 0.5% selling fee, your net profit is $487.50.

Your total investment cost is $1,005, giving an ROI of approximately 48.51%.

What is the difference between price change and ROI?

Price change measures how much the cryptocurrency's market price has increased or decreased.

ROI measures the actual percentage return on your investment after the trading fees included in this calculator.

For example, a cryptocurrency price increase of 50% may result in an investment ROI below 50% because of buying and selling fees.

Can cryptocurrency ROI be negative?

Yes. A negative ROI means your investment has lost money after costs.

Even if a cryptocurrency's price remains unchanged, trading fees can result in a negative ROI.

Does this calculator include taxes?

No. This calculator does not include capital gains taxes, network fees, exchange spreads, slippage or currency conversion charges.

Cryptocurrency investments are volatile and can lose substantial value. Past performance does not guarantee future returns.
